Apart from the exhibition we had a harpsichord after Mietke on the stage for the competition which is taking place during the festival. A lot of players were very enthusiastic of this harpsichord and used it. Jonathan Rhodes Lee, one of the contestants wrote on the harpsichord list:
After a day, the festival administration decided to add a third instrument,
a 2007 Mietke copy by HPSCHD-L member Jan Kalsbeek. The instrument was
lovingly decorated in Chinoiserie and had those wonderful decorative Mietke
hinges. It felt and sounded glorious. The sound is dry, direct, very
speaking (if that term means anything to anybody but me). Everyone else on the first day -- and I do mean everyone -- opted to play on Jan Kalsbeek's instrument, which I think he took as a great (and deserved) compliment. |
